Lorwyn (2007) Featured Combos Page!
Part 3 of 3!!!
Last updated 10/27/07 (Made a few corrections/modifications/additions/replacements)
(20/20 Combos)
(3 Infinite Combos, 2 Deck Links)
Hoofprints of the Stag - Teferi's Puzzle Box
The cards reference in part one of this combo series were good and all, but Teferi's Puzzle Box is better.  Assuming you have several cards in hand, at the beginning of your upkeep you recycle that hand and put lots of hoof counters on the Elemental enchantment.  If you have at least four cards in hand and 2W available in mana, you can put a 4/4 elemental token with flying into play every turn.  Thanks Teferi!
Surgespanner and/or Fallowsage - Opposition
It seems that Surgespanner and Fallowsage were built for decks that sport the control-esque Opposition and its ilk.  Opposition taps creatures for free and these two merfolk from Lorwyn takes advantage of that by giving you the option to pay a little extra mana to return a craeture to its owner's hand or no mana extra mana to draw a card when they are tapped.   While there aren't any cards that reduce the cost of triggered abilities (like the one you see on Surgespanner), you can always use cards like Mana Flare to double your available mana to make the ability easier to play.

Aneximines suggests keeping it in the familiy and using Summon the School and/or Drowner of Secrets to tap your Surgespanner or Fallowsage (instead of Opposition).

Liliana Vess - Damnation or Wrath of God
This combo was submitted by many people.  In a previous Lorwyn Combo Page I posted Ajani + Wrath of God.  While that's nice and all, this is better.  Use Damnation or Wrath of God to clear the field and load up everyone's graveyards with creatures.  Then, follow that up withe Liliana's last ability gain control of all creatures in all graveyards.  Sounds like recursion supremacy if you ask me.
Hostility - Furnace of Rath
I was trying to find a great combo in the last combo page for Hostility and I can up short (especially after someone pointed out that Chandra Nalaar didn't work with Hostility).  However, in a recent Raiding the Dollar Bins article, Death_By_Beebles suggested Hostility with Furnace of Rath.  In fact, the deck list is to the left.  Anyway, Furnace of Rath will double your burn spells (like Sulfurous Blast or Pyroclasm or just Lightning Bolt) so that you twice as many 3/1 red Elemental Shaman creature tokens.  Orcish Oriflamme anyone?

OK... ok... I know.  This is synergy.  It's really good synergy, though.

Timber Protector - Life and Limb
This combo is best in a heavy Forest and/or Saproling deck.  The point?  Make all of your Saprolings and Forests indestructible.  Life and Limb will make all Forests and all Saprolings 1/1 green Saproling creatures and Forest lands in addition to their other types.  And thus, Timber Protector makes all Forests Indestrucible.  Combine will some creature pump and you have an unbeatable beatdown deck.

Note: You can always Clone your Timber Protector to make sure your Treefolks are indestructible until the end of the game, pending a Vindicate.  Oooh - I just realized Timber Protector makes Dryad Arbor a mean little Dryad.  Persistent too!

TheGrayOne suggests combining these two cards with Dauntless Dourbark (from Combo Page #1) for one giant-happy-combo-familiy.

Wort, Boggart Aunite - Squee, Goblin Nabob - Fodder Launch
This is a variation of a combo I posted on an earlier Lorwyn Combo Page -- except this combo will allow you to do some creature removal and damage (life loss) to an opponent every turn.    It can be expensive, but it's still good for your Goblin deck. How it works?  With both goblins in play, play Fodder Launch and sacrifice Squee to its cost.   At the beginning of your next upkeep, Wort can return the Fodder Launch to your hand and Goblin Nabob will return to your hand automatically (thanks to his ability).  Play both cards (seven mana total) and keep knocking your opponent down five life.  That's a four turn lock once you get all cards on board. Submitted by Anthony Powers.
Deathrender - Mogg Fanatic - Enduring Renewal
Infinite Damage!  With all three cards in play and Deathrender attached to the Fanatic, sacrifice the Fanatic to deal one damage to an opponent (or creature).  Because Enduring Renewal is a replacement effect, it affects the Mogg Fanatic during the resolution of the trigger from Deathrender. And thus, you can take that same Fanatic from your hand (that just got there thanks to Renewal) and put it into play with Deathrender attached to it.  Submitted by Alex Chaplin & Freezo.

Replace Mogg Fanatic with other creatures that sacrifice for free with an effect for other types of infinity.

Brigid, Hero of Kinsbaile - Lace with Moonglove or Repercussions
Emperor Crusty suggests using Lace with Moonglove with Brigid, Hero of Kinsbaile.  Should your opponent ever all-out attack you, just unload this surprise and watch your opponent's army fall fast to the deathtouch of this femme fatale.   This one-sided psuedo wrath effect just involves the tap of Brigid and three mana to play Lace with Moonglove.

If you want to be a little more tricky with Brigid, drop a Repercussions.  Whether your opponent attacks or blocks, one tap of Brigid will result in two damage times the number of creatures your opponent controls that are attacking or blocking.  One or two turns of this, and your opponent is sure to lose.  Remember that you can attack them too.  They will be in trouble whether or not they block your attack.

Familiar's Ruse - Izzet Chronarch
While this can be an expensive combo, it can lock down your opponent later in the game.  With Izzet Chronarch in play, play a Familiar's Ruse to counter an opponent's spell.  In doing so, return the Chronarch to your hand.  next turn, you can play Chronarch, return Ruse to your hand, and then be ready to counter another spell from your opponent.  Add Arcane Laboratory to create a hard-lock.   Note: You can replace Arcane Laboratory with Rule of Law for the same effect.
Makeshift Mannequin - Simic Sky Swallower
Many people have attempted to break Makeshift Mannequin but the tricky part is not targeting the recurred creature.   Power Conduit works since you don't have to target, but other cards all target.  So... why not find a creature that has shroud so it can't be targeted anyway.  One of the bigger shroud creatures is Simic Sky Swallower and thus makes a nice finisher / target for the Instant Recur known as Makeshift Mannequin.
Did you know...?

To the right and left of this text is something called the MDV Deck Link.  You will only find these link buttons on the combo pages.  When you click on the MDV Deck Link it will take you to a deck related to the combo where you found it.

If the button is to the left of the combo text, this means there is a deck already linked.  If the link is to the right, there is a deck found or that is going to be posted.  Or it is a combo I am currently looking for a deck using it. Mind you, not all decks links are going to center around that particular combo, although most do.

Boggart Shenanigans - Goblin Bombardment
Goblin Bombardment was and still is a powerhouse in many decks.  But, if you make a tribal Goblin deck, try adding Boggart Shenanigans and use Bombartment to sacrifice a bunch of goblins.  Suddently that one damage per creature sacrificed turns into two thanks to Shenanigans. Ouch.
Twinning Glass - Howling Creatures or Pack Hunt
There are cards from the Masques Block that filled your hand with like cards from your library.  Howling Wolf, Nesting Wurm and Pack Hunt are all good examples.  Fill your hand with those cards after playing the card and then use Twinning Glass to play them for the largely discounted price of one colorless mana.  Blue Light Special, here I come! The unfortunate part is that the Glass costs four to play initially, which can mess up the mana curve of certain decks...
Judge of Currents - Aphetto Alchemist - Imagecrafter
Infinite Life! How does it work?  With all three cards in play, tap Imagecrafter to make the Alchemist a Merfolk until end of turn.  Now tap Aphetto Alchemist to untap itself.  This activates Judge of Currents and gains you one life.  Repeat this tapping and untapping of the Alchemist and before you know it, you'll have an arbitrarily large amount of life - i.e. Infinite Life.  Submitted by YWN.
Guile - Dovescape
Let's see if I can explain this right.  With both cards in play, play a noncreature spell.  Dovescape will counter your spell which in turn will be removed from the game by Guile.  Thanks to Guile, you can now play that spell without paying its mana cost.  You have to play it at that time or lose the chance to play it ever again.

Now, if I understand this correctly, when you play it again without paying its mana cost, it will again be countered by Dovescape... and then removed from the game to be played again.  This will generate an infinite loop until you choose not to play the spell again.  This infinite loop will generate infinite creatures from Dovescape.

Note: If I am wrong in my analysis of the card interactions, please let me know.  Guild's ability is a replacement effect, but Dovescape will be the original cause of the replacement effect and thus will still trigger the token generation. *crosses fingers* Submitted by Kenneth Peltokangas.

Note: Multani's Prescence does NOT work with Guile because Guile's ability is a replacement effect so the card is never really countered.

Hunter of Eyeblights - Sheltering Ancient
Hunter of Eyeblight at first looks like a great card, but when you look closer, getting a 3/3 and destroying one creature for a total of eight mana isn't worth it... unless you can keep the +1/+1 counters flowing on your opponent's army.  This way you have a creature you can kill every turn and the investment suddenly seems worth it.  Sheltering Ancient is great at dishing out the +1/+1 counters - so why not pair the two cards up?  Submitted by Kyle.

Note: Immaculate Magistrate also works wonders with Hunter of Eyeblights if you want a draft combo. Submitted by YWN.

Stinkdrinker Daredevil - Conspiracy
These two cards translates into "All [Creature] spells you play cost 2 less to play."  Just make sure to set Conspiracy to Giants when it comes into play.  Submitted by Death by Aggro.

Note: Conspiracy doesn't affect non-creature Tribal cards.  YWN asked me to clarify this.

Rings of Brighthearth - Goblin Warrens
Last I checked, Goblin Warren's token generating ability isn't a mana ability and thus you can copy it for two mana with the Rings of Brighthearth.  What's nice is that the copy doesn't copy the activation cost and thus you get six 1/1 red goblin tokens for 4R total.
Glen Elendra Pranksters - Mistbind Clique
Oooh - another confusing combo.  This one was submitted by Joseph Tapper.

You actually need two of each cards.  Have the Mistbind Clique in play championing a Pranksters, and also have a Pranksters in play.  Play the second Clique during an opponent's turn after their untap step, bouncing the first Clique, returning its Pranksters.  When the second Clique comes into play, champion a Pranksters to get back to where you started.  (This paragraph quoted from Aneximines).

The end result: Your opponent will be land-tapped-out every turn if you can afford the 3U mana to play Mistbind Clique every turn.  While this combo can be tough to pull off, it's worth it to Stasis your opponent for the game.

Fallowsage - Paradise Mantle - Freed from the Real
While this combo doesn't fit into one of MDV's infinite categories, it is technically Infinite Draws!  Equip the Fallowsage with Paradise Mantle and Freed from the Real (and pray your opponent doesn't have a Terror in hand).  Anyway, tap Fallowsage to add U to your mana pool (courtesy of the Mantle) and draw a card (courtesy of Fallowsage's ability).  Now use that U mana to untap Fallowsage (courtesy of Freed from the Real).  Repeat to draw out your entire deck.  You can make this combo infinite mana, life, etc. by finding an outlet for your extra cards (like Skirge Familiar and Feldon's Cane).  Submitted by Aneximines.
Forced Fruition - Mind's Eye
If you are still trying to find some cards to combo or have good synergy with Forced Fruition, look no further.  Here's another card that works terribly well with Forced Fruition -- Mind's Eye.  While your opponent is being technically milled by your aggressive enchantment, you can be selective on the cards you draw.  Whenever they play a spell, they have to draw seven cards.  You can pay X damage at that time to draw X cards where X is anywhere from zero to seven.  If you only want to draw two or three cards, pay three mana to the Mind's Eye.  You have complete control over it now.  Yeah, it sucks that you have to pay mana, but 1 colorless per card is a good deal.
Your Combo Here!
You could have your combo featured in this spot right here (not literally, but on a future combo page).  Email the webmaster with any combos you'd like to submit.  Try to make sure your combo works and that there isn't already that combo on any other MDV combo page.  You can always Search Magic Deck Vortex with the search tool to make sure before submitting it.

I greatly appreciate your efforts to make these combo pages better.  Every once in a while I have a page chock-full of your submitted combos... although I will admit about 75% of all submitted combos are duplicates.
