Painter's Servant - Grindstone
Submitted by Akemi.  Grindstone will keep grinding if the two cards you put into a player's graveyard with it share a color.  Before Painter's Servant you had to worry about lands and artifacts messing up your grind.  With Painter's Servant, you will just keep grinding.. until there's nothing left of your opponent's library.

You want more options with Painter's Servant? "And Another" recommends Guttural Response, Eyes of the Wisent, Deathmark and Crovax, Ascendant Hero. Absolumerz recommends the pitch cards like Force of Will or Sunscour; Dystopia, Compost and Reap also work. kG-B recommends Pentarch Paladin and lastly Ajonos recommends creatures with protection.  Shall I go on?

Was a sub-theme of this set combo cards???  Geez.

Flourishing Defenses - Two(2) Grim Poppets
Infinite creatures. In a block so populated by -1/-1 counters, Flourishing Defenses is an amazing card.  However, if you combine it with two Grim Poppets you can net infinite 1/1 green Elf Warrior creature tokens.  With two Grim Poppets in play, and assuming at least one of them has one less -1/-1 counter than it came into play with, you can move -1/-1 counters back and forth between the two Scarecrows for free.  Each time you do so you get a token from the Flourishing Defenses and thus... infinite creatures.

Note: Leech Bonder & Paradise Mantle can replace the two Grim Poppets for the same effect.

Murderous Redcap - Juniper Order Ranger
Want to make Juniper Order Ranger infinitely big?  420.5n deck style?  Try combining Murderous Redcap with Juniper Order Ranger.  When you play the Redcap it deals 2 damage to a target; target itself (killing the Redcap).  Persist will bring it back with a -1/-1 counter and the Ranger will give it and itself a +1/+1 counter.  Thanks to rule 420.5, the +1/+1 counter and the -1/-1 counter negate themsevles and thus you can repeat with the redcap targetting himself.  This will make an infinitely large Juniper Order Ranger.

How to make this infinite:  You can fling the Juniper Order Ranger for infinite damage, give the Ranger trample and attack or simply add a sacrifice outlet like Nantuko Husk and deal that 2 damage each time to your opponent, doing infinite damage.  With Mother of Runes you can go infinite life... and so on.

Morselhoarder - Power of Fire - Sinking Feeling

Infinite Damage!  And this one was submitted to me via email by Silk.  Thanks, Silk.  Here's how it works: Enchant Morselhoarder with both Power of Fire and Sinking Feeling.  Let's assume it still has two -1/-1 counters on it.  Tap the Morselhoarder to deal a damage to something or someone.  Remove a counter from Morselhoarder to add a mana to your mana pool (color is irrelevant). Use that mana to untap Morselhoarder with Sinking Feeling and put a -1/-1 counter on Morsehoarder as part of the cost to untap it.  You should now be back where you were.  Continue for infinite damage.

Dream Salvage - Magus of the Jar
I know, I know.  This combo was featured on www.wizards.com site by the legendary MaGo.  But that doesn't mean this is a combo forbidden to be on the MDV Combo Page (number one) for Shadowmoor.  And thus, I present to you this combo!!!

Finding the right card for Dream Salvage can be a challenge.  It has to be a card like Mind Twist or Persecute that has the potential to make your opponent discard a lot of cards.  But not all of those cards have to be black.  Magus of the Jar will force an opponent to draw seven cards and then discard them at the end of his or her turn.  Timed well, the Dream Salvage could potentially draw you seven cards and all for one mana.  That's a good combo.  Thanks, MaGo and the many people who submitted this in the forum and via email.

Scuzzback Marauders - Bramblewood Paragon - Phyrexian Altar

Infinite Mana.  And here is how it works: With all three cards in play, sacrifice the Scuzzleback Marauders to the Altar and add a mana of any color to your mana pool.  The persist ability will trigger and bring the Marauders back into play with a -1/-1 counter.  Because it is a Warrior, Bramblewood Paragon will give it a +1/+1 counter when it comes into play.   The two counters will combine into no counter and you are back where we began.  Keep sacrificing the Marauders for infinite mana. This combo was submitted by Dratho.

Mirrorweave - Hulking Cyclops
I was wracking my brain for a good creature to copy with Mirrorweave and it didn't net me any really good results.  However, MaGo over at www.wizards.com recommended Hulking Cyclops.  Ingenius.  If you attack with five creatures and your opponent have whatever (say ten) creatures... before they assign blockers cast Mirrorweave and turn all creatures into the Hulking Cyclops.  Suddenly they can't block your onslaught and don't forget all of your creatures are now 5/5's!  Excellent.
Grim Poppet - Unstable Mutation
This is a match made in heaven.  After you distribute the -1/-1 counters already on Grim Poppet, he's a 4/4 creature that doesn't normally get anymore -1/-1 counters save Astral Slide or Momentary Blink.  You could enchant Grim Poppet with Torture but that requires a mana investment.  Unstable Mutation will not only make your Grim Poppet 7/7 but also generate a -1/-1 counter on it every turn for you to choose new targets for.  Creature control and beatdown all in the nice blue-artifact package.

NOTE: Grim Poppet and Doubling Season are not friends by themselves.  You need something to make Grim Poppet more beefy, like Unstable Mutation for it to work.

EXTRA: Leech Bonder also likes Unstable Mutation. (submitted by Ogmius1).

Twilight Shepherd - Wrath of God
Persist is a dangerous mechanic.  Where once you could cast Wrath of God and clear the board without too much worry of recursion, you now don't have the luxury of a worry-free Wrath.  With all of these creatures with Persist, your wrath isn't as potent.  Combine that with the Twilight Shepherd who is like white's No Rest for the Wicked infused Angel, and you have a combo.  Specifically, with the Shepherd in play when you cast Wrath of God, you get all of your creatures back to hand and the Shepherd back in play with a -1/-1 counter.  Your opponent may get nothing back after the Wrath...
Deep-Slumber Titan - Pyrohemia
Submitted by Tekkactus.  Pyrohemia is not only a great way to clear the board of pesky weenies (that don't have protection from red), but it is also a great way to get around the drawback of Deep-Slumber Titan.

EXTRA: FKIH recommends Lure or Nemesis Mask to make sure the Titan takes damage so you can attack with it the following turn.

Kitchen Finks (or Persist in general) - Phyrexian Vault

Kitchen Finks seems to be an excellent card; it has persist and gains you life when it comes into play.  Combined with a Phyrexian Vault, which is in Tenth Edition CORE Set, you get to draw a card and get the creature back... which still gains you life upon coming back into play.  A 5 mana investment seems pretty good if you think of it like this: You get a 3/2 creature, a 2/1 creature, a card and four life total from the investment.  Not bad.

ElazulAoneko recommends using Power Conduit with your Persist creatures. Cashew recommends Heartmender...  There are a bunch of cards that enable or enhance Persist; keep checking back from more Persistent combos. *grin*

Demigod of Revenge - Buried Alive
Submitted by AlasterEisaroh.  Make the most use out of your Demigod of Revenge.  Cast Buried Alive a turn before playing the Demigod of Revenge and put the other three Demigods of Revenge into your graveyard (assuming you have one in your hand, of course).  Now play the Demigod.  WALLA!  Assuming your opponent doesn't Tormod's Crypt you, you should four 5/4 flying, hasty creatures in play ready to smash face and hopefully win you the game.  That's 20 damage to the noggin'.

EXTRA: Epileptic Cricket advises to think beyond 20 damage and use one of the following cards in conjunction with the above: Shared Animosity for 36, Anthem of Rakdos for 56 and Pandemonium for 20+20 (who needs to attack, right!).

Tatterkite - Everlasting Torment

Let's see, Tatterkite can't have counters placed on it.  And thus a creature with wither can't ever do any damage to the Tatterkite.

Enter Everlasting Torment and suddenly all damage sources are treated as thought they had wither (deals damage in the forum of -1/-1 counters).  Shock, creature damage, Pyrohemia... they all deal damage to the Tatterkite in the forum of -1/-1 counters... and thus they don't deal damage to Tatterkite at all.  Sounds like a pseudo-indestructible combo for Tatterkite.  Still, Disenchant and Shatter get through...

Aviv A recommends enchanting Tatterkite with Unstable Mutation to negate the -1/-1 counter effect of the Tatterkite.  +3/+3 permanently for one blue mana... sign my up!

Did you know...?

To the right and left of this text is something called the MDV Deck Link.  You will only find these link buttons on the combo pages.  When you click on the MDV Deck Link it will take you to a deck related to the combo where you found it.

If the button is to the left of the combo text, this means there is a deck already linked.  If the link is to the right, there is a deck found or that is going to be posted.  Or it is a combo I am currently looking for a deck using it. Mind you, not all decks links are going to center around that particular combo, although most do.

Godhead of Awe - Juntu Stakes and/or Caltrops
Godhead of Awe is a cruel card for any deck sporting a lot of creatures and/or a beatdown strategy.  Why not make it even worse for them and do as YWN would suggest: Play Juntu Stakes.  Suddenly their tapped creatures (all 1/1s) don't untap during their controllers' untap steps.

If you want to even go a step further, play Caltrops.  Now if your opponent has any untapped 1/1's it won't matter.  The minute they attack with them, they all die.

Good times.  What was that black enchantment from Kamigawa block that gives -1/-1 to all creatures???...  I digress. *grin*

Inkfathom Witch - Goblin Sharpshooter
So it's that game breaking turn and your opponent thinks they are going to win with an onslaught of creatures.  However, if you have just these two cards in play at that point you can turn the tides quickly.  Don't block any of their creatures.  Then before damage is dealt use the Witch to turn all of their creatures into 4/1 creatures.  It's mana heavy, I know, but at this point in the game you should be able to invest that mana into the ability.  Then, use Goblin Sharpshooter to ping all of those creatures to their death.  This is another combo I found on www.wizards.com by MaGo.
Leech Bonder - Paradise Mantle - Mana Reflection
Infinite Mana. This combo was submitted by several people. With all cards in play and the Mantle attached to the Bonder, Tap the Bonder to add U to your mana pool.  However, thanks to Mana Reflection, you get UU (instead of just U) from tapping the Bonder.

Use one U (of UU) to untap the Leech Bonder and move one of its -1/-1 counters to another creature. Assume you don't kill that creature.  Repeat the earlier steps to keep moving that -1/-1 counter back and forth from one creature to another and each time you do this you net an extra mana in your mana pool.  Use that mana for whatever your heart desires.

Tekkactus suggests Drowner of Secrets as a means to tap down the Leech Bonder (or other Q creatures) should you not own any Paradise Mantles. Epileptic Cricket recommends Quicksilver Dagger...

Swans of Bryn Argoll - Fatal Attraction
This combo was submitted by several people.  For three mana, you can cast Fatal Attraction on this bird spirit creature known as Swans of Bryn Argoll and draw two cards... and then every upkeep of yours after that draw four cards.  It's like an animated Howling Mine on speed... with Gaseous Form on it except you can still deal damage to an opponent if unblocked... or something like that.  This is a great combo and I encourage you to try it.
Curse of Chains - Knacksaw Clique
Curse of Chains works well with really any creature that has the Q (untap) symbol on it.  It does, however, work a little better with the Knacksaw Clique.  It will be a mana inventment, two per turn, but not only are you removing cards from your opponent's library but you are also given the opportunity to play those cards that same turn.

Plus, the Curse of Chains will untap EACH upkeep (not just your own).  Suddenly I'm thinking a Heartstone would be a nice addition to these two cards...

Order of Whiteclay - Kinsbaile Borderguard - Phyrexian Altar - Earthcraft - Utopia Sprawl
Infinite creatures.  This combo was submitted by Luthervamplord and here is how it works...

Enchant a Forest with the Sprawl and name white.  Assume Order, Earthcraft, Borderguard (with one +1/+1 counter), and Altar are in play. Sacrifice the Borderguard to the Altar and add one white mana to your mana pool. As a result of the Borderguard's leaves play ability, put a 1/1 white Kithkin Soldier creature token into play.

Using Earthcraft, tap the Order to untap the Forest enchanted with the Sprawl.  Now tap the enchanted Forest to add GW to your mana pool.  With the GWW in your mana pool, untap the Order to return the Borderguard to play (with at least one +1/+1 counter on it thanks to the Order).

Repeat for infinite creatures.  It's a bit clunky, but it works; consider the fact that both creatures involved in the combo are Kithkin...

Scarscale Ritual - Quirion Dryad
Scarscale Ritual fits the -1/-1 counter theme of Shadowmoor and uses that theme to benefit the spell drawing you two cards for two mana at a small price of putting a -1/-1 counter on a creature you control.  Combine Scarscale Ritual with Quirion Dryad from Tenth Edition and suddenly that drawback is vanquished.  You see you play the Ritual which activates the Dryad and gives it a +1/+1 counter.  The -1/-1 counter and the +1/+1 counter combine into no counter at all.  Be careful, though.  Quirion Dryad needs to have at least one +1/+1 counter on it already before casting the Ritual else she will die to state based effects (since the -1/-1 counter placement of the Ritual is part of the cost and not part of the effect).

EXTRA: Scarscale Ritual works well with any card capable of using its -1/-1 counters (such as Grim Poppet or Leech Bonder).
