Deck Database - Fill in the Gaps.
1/23/10 - As many of you know, I have a Historical Deck
section in the MDV Deck Database. If you have visited it recently you
will notice I have some gaps in the list.
Link. Specifically I am
missing decks in: 2010, 2009, 2008 (have one thus far), 2007, 2006, 2005
and 1995. Please use the thread linked above to discuss existing decks
in the historical deck database as well as any decks you feel I might be
missing. Please either provide a link to the decklist or submit the
decklist in this thread and advise what it is from (from what designer,
what year, what tournament, what group, what format). You can also
use this as a means to discuss what you consider a historical deck.

August's Deck Database Update
100% Complete! 85 Decks Posted!
8/16/09 - What was once a 75 deck addition is now
complete and with ten more decks than originally planned. I added
a few deck submissions from the casual deck forum that had been
previously DBM'd. I think this update is one of the most expansive
deck database updates in the last year having decks from almost every
color combination and every deck type. While doing the update I
cleaned up a few pages here and there although there is quite a bit of
house keeping left to do. If you see any errors, or want to help,
please let me know.In the meantime, know I'm
thinking about reformatting the deck database a little bit.
You can see an example of what I'm thinking in the August 2009 Decks
area. It includes adding more space between each deck, changing
the backgrounds and the colors and a few other minor modifications. Let
me know your thoughts - good or bad here:

Historical Decks Page Updated,
Sorted by Year!
8/16/09 - The Historical Deck Section of the MDV Deck
Database has been updated. I've changed a few of the descriptions
to better match what's actually in the deck (as opposed to general
descriptions like Cocoa Pebbles or Wheaties). I have also sorted
the decks by year and then deck name. Previously they were sorted
by deck type, deck description and then deck name. This should be
much easier to sort through now if you are a historical deck buff.
In resorting the decks I discovered that I'm missing some
decks from 2009, 2007, 2006, 2005 and 1995. I plan on correcting
this problem very soon and started looking for historial decks this
weekend.
In the meantime, know that all 75 decks have been
posted for the August 2009 MDV Deck Database Update. I have yet to
propagate them, but they are all clickable now. Enjoy! ~Streetz~ |
Decks
from last deck database update are finally propogated throughout the
Deck Database.
5/30/09 - When working on updating the deck database this
morning, I realized the decks from the last update were never added to
the by color and by type pages. I spent an hour this morning
correcting that and changing a few minor things on individual database
pages. If you are a regular visitor of these pages, you will catch
the minor changes. In any event, I plan on working more on the

Deck
of the Day has begun!
3/27/07 - Deck of the Day is a new feature on Magic Deck
Vortex where you get to see a (maybe) random deck from the vast database
of decks on Magic Deck Vortex. Sometimes you'll find some
insightful piece of information about the deck. Sometimes it will
just be a glimpse of a deck you never knew existed. Each weekday,
a new deck will be featured on the home page. ~Streetz~ |
August's
Deck Update: 40 New Decks!
8/31/06 - Forty new decks have been added to the deck
database including a lot of decks using Coldsnap and Dissension cards.
There is even one Infinity deck and three land destruction decks and
mill decks! About half of these decks are decks from existing
articles on MDV; these decks are marked with double-asterisks.
Please enjoy this update and keep checking back every month for more

July's
Deck Update Complete: 21 New Decks.
7/9/06 - It may be a small update, but at least I
completed it all in one day! There are a total of 21 new decks
added completly to the MDV deck database. There's a nice selection
of decks this time around with two Beatdown, one Burn, four Combo, four
Control, five Recursion, two Single-Card-Strategies, one Theme and
finally two tribal decks. There is also some Lite, Group and Vintage
decks in the mix. Thanks

Historical
Decks.. which ones am I missing?
3/24/06 - So I was gathering decks for the next deck
database update and I realized my 'historical
deck database' section was lacking. Yes, I have a lot of decks
in that section of the site... but I thought: which ones am I missing?
I mean, Magic has been around for more than 10 years... there has to be
more than 50 decks to be on this list. While the historical decks
aren't exactly 'casual', they important to see, view, dissect and
understand for any good deck builder. Your task? Look over
the Historical decks and tell me
in this
thread which decks I am missing or that shouldn't be on the list.

Update Complete - 78 New Decks!
2/20/06 - Turns out there were a few more than 75
decks - and all of them have been completely added to the main database
(including by color and by type). There is a wide assortment of
decks this time around including a few for almost all of the deck
categories. I even have a new themed deck for you (not tribal). Thanks for visiting MDV! ~Streetz~
P.S. On a side note - I am no longer using AdventuresOn's deck creation
utility. If you want to submit a deck to MDV, submit it in the
casual

Deck
layout updates complete!
1/29/06 - After eight months of updating each deck
page in the MDV Deck Database, I am finally complete. Each deck
page is now designed around the current deck layout template and where
available, I've added descriptions of the decks. It was amusing to
do this as I saw some of the REALLY old deck page layouts (where were
VERY UGLY). I've also made a few other adjustments here and there.
Overall, I just wanted to make the deck database more consistent in the
way I presented the decks to you. If you ever see any errors on
the deck pages, please let me know. In the meantime, thank you for

updates
to the DDB...
11/5/05 - Over the past several months I have been
updating the layout of the deck pages to match to current layout (as
best referenced on the latest deck pages). It has been a slow and
grooling process but I am almost done. A-R, Some of S, and X-Z are
now complete. I am referring to the names of the decks. As I
go through the decks I try to find the original article written about
the deck and include the deck description in the MDV Deck Database.
I also try and update the card pictures and sideboard information.
As I have mentioned before, I am trying to complete this by the end of
the year and I am so close to completion. Once I finish this I can

word about MDV's deck definitions...
9/1/05. I have not been able to update this page
like I would like to so I have opened it back up to you all.
However, the majority of the primers listed to the right are now
outdated and many of the deck descriptions below can either be expanded
upon, deleted or revised. If you are an expert of the deck types,
please let me know and help me update this page and the primers. Once
the forums are back up, you can discuss this subject in

updates
to the DDB...
8/9/05 - As I have mentioned before, the deck database is being updated..
slowly but surely. I started this off last month by given the deck
by type pages new icons to accommodate some newer categories like "Un"
decks, historical decks and 'eternal' decks. But then there's the
"BIG" project for me... updating each and every deck page with the new
deck layout. As of this blurb, all deck pages starting with A, B,
C, D, Z, Y, X and W have been complete. As I go along I sometimes
delete decks, update decks with their original descriptions, and/or
modify and move around them by type and/or color. This is a
lot of work and I hope to finish this aspect of the deck database update

Updates
to the DDB...
7/28/05 - The deck database is being updated.
Included in these updates, which start tonight, all of the deck by type
pages get new icons. Plus, all of the new decks from July have
been added to the 'by type' and 'by color' deck database pages.
There are more things in the works including updating the about the DDB
page and adding icons to the by color pages. Thanks for visiting

Deck page updates in the DDB...
7/20/05 -
As mentioned last month, I have been updating the Deck Database deck
pages to have the new layout. I have recently finished most of the
'b' decks (starting with the letter 'b') and completed Y-Z. There
have been other deck pages updated including a deck update to "Counter
Spells" .. which is one of my favorite decks. As I am sure you
know, this is a slow process that I hope to complete by September.
Updating 30 decks takes about 30 minutes.. and MDV has over 1500 decks
right now. If you have any questions or comments regarding the
deck database, please send me an

Help
me build a deck in the forums.
7/11/05 - I am currently trying to build a deck using
the infinite turn combo: Skull of Orm and Second Chance. Please
post your comments and suggestions on the very, very rough deck list I
have posted
here. Your comments will help to shape another deck to be
added to the deck database... I may even write an article regarding
it... or even devote a whole article series on infinite combo decks. We'll
see how everything works out. If you haven't joined the forums
yet, please do and enjoy the chance to discuss the many aspects of MDV
on it... or post your comments on this combo deck I'm putting together.

Deck
page updates in the DDB...
6/29/05 - Every once in a while I change the DDB deck
layout.. and about two months ago I changed it again. Currently, I
am updating decks in the database with this new look (decks that start
with 'a' and some of 'b' were done earlier this month) and tonight I
worked on about 30 decks starting with 'g' and 'h'. While doing
this, I try to update the decks with deck descriptions and in some cases
(like Hella-Thopter and
Holy Golem) I update the deck entirely.
Please know I do this to keep the DDB up to date and cool looking for
your casual bliss. I will continue to update the deck layouts over
the next few months or until I decide to change the look of the deck
pages again. So far I have changed the layout of the deck pages
about 10 times in the 3 years Magic Deck Vortex has been around.
That makes for a lot of work for me. Argh. Anyway, thanks

by color pages complete.
5/18/05 - It's done. All of the 'decks by color'
pages are complete.. so they look like the 'decks by type' pages...
which deck names, description, color, rating and ddb date. I hope
this helps everyone in finding their perfect decks to tweak.

- Be careful... you never know what might happen on a day like today.
Seriously, though. I don't have anything special to share with you
today, but I do want to let you know I have updated more of the decks by
color pages. All of the one color and two color decks by color
pages are complete. All that is left is the four color page and
three of the 3-color pages. I should get those complete this

Definitions being renovated.
5/10/05 - I am temporarily taking down the deck
definitions page and sub pages in the hope to update them. Many of
the primers will be updated or deleted and I hope to completely update
the definitions themselves. Be patient while I do this.. or if

Deck
Database being rearranged...
4/17/05
- I am in the process of rearranging the Deck Database here on Magic
Deck Vortex. To start, I have reformatted the main DDB page so
that it is similar to the feature and reference pages... with buttons at
the top to navigate you through the database. Currently, there are
buttons for New Decks, About the Database, Decks by Type, Decks by
Color, Deck Submissions, and Deck Definitions. If you have any
concerns, or comments, please post them on the MDV
forum or send me and email.
For the next week or so, the decks by color section
of MDV will be in limbo.. as I am finally changing this to be better.
Before, all you got was a list of deck names sorted (usually)
alphabetically for each color page. Now you will be able to see
the names sorted the same way with all of the good information about the
deck as you have always been able to find only on the 'by type' deck
pages. This is something I have wanted to do for a
long time, but never had the drive to do it. It has to be redone
all by hand (since the navigation charts in Frontpage won't help in the
task) and that takes some time. So far I have mono-white decks, and
5 color decks done. I still have 20+ other pages to complete.
I will keep you all updated.
As I already mentioned, if you have any better
ideas on how to make the MDV DDB better, please let me know on the
forums or by email. Note: A search engine is STILL on hold..
as my server won't accommodate me in this task. However,
www.google.com is the best search
engine to use if you type in the card you are looking for (in
quotes) and then type in
www.magicdeckvortex.com... it will search all of the MDV pages for
the card or cards you are looking for. It is pretty up to date and
includes 80%+ of the pages on MDV.

8/24/04.
..but under intense construction. If you see any errors thus far,
please let me know. I still have to go through all 1500 decks on
this site and determine which ones will go on this page as well as find a
few. If you have any leads to some decks that should go on this
page, please let me know. Likewise, if you find any misinformation
or if you want to argue that a certain deck shouldn't be listed on this
