Brief History
Magic Deck Vortex
was founded in August of 2002 by John Streetz.
It started as just an EXCEL database of 100 decks John Streetz had
collected from a variety of sources (60 of which were put
together as actual decks for casual play at the time). Note:
Jason Streetz helped to establish MDV by hosting it
on his site:
www.streetzuite.com in the very
beginning.
Many thanks to him for his help with MDV over the years.
Originally, Magic
Deck Vortex brought people in by having a deck clinic, regular
contests and a deck
submission page. Magic Deck Vortex as a 'magic' site has
been expanding internally and
externally ever since August 2002 through other means such as
articles, it's combo and deck databases, and it's linking network
across the net. Now, Magic Deck Vortex is linked to on over 100 different websites around the
world including mtgsalvation.com, wiki.com and portals like
Blackborder.com and nbv-mtg.com. Since the beginning, MDV has grown from 100 decks to over 1900.
Features have expanded from minimal to better. This trend will
continue until there is nothing left to expand (which is impossible
considering the many different directions of the site now). One of the hopes
of the webmaster is to have the site referenced and/or mentioned
on the main site,
www.wizards.com. And MDV
was!!! The Ferrett referred to "The" Magic Deck Vortex for its
infinite combo database. Go, MDV! Current
Focus
Magic Deck Vortex
has so many facets it is tough to really explain what the current
focus is. However, as of 5/14/08, here are my goals to complete
until the end of the year.
-
Complete all of the visual spoiler
for old sets including CORE sets of yore and Legends.
-
Update the search engine with
something better.
-
Pick up Celixia/Powershift and
finish Powershift.
-
Actually make the combos and decks
a database. Currently it is all manual. The only
database is an EXCEL file on Streetz's computer...
That's it for
now. Those are in no particular order. If you would like
to chime in, please email me and I will re-evaluate this list.
Or you could post your concerns in the
forum (which I recommend over
emailing me).
