10/29/08 - Welcome to the Search Engine of MDV.
The engine used to do the searching is called Entropy. Its not
very good, but it does get the job done. (If you know of a better search
engine I can install on the server that is free and works with UNIX,
please let
me know). Here are some notes and problems with it (please read it as it will help
you in getting results using this):
- Avoid Full Card Names with "of" "the" and other words. If you type
in "Skull of Orm" you will get no results even though there are many pages with
Skull of Orm. However, if you search for "Skull" you will find pages with
Skull of Orm and anything else that references Skull in the title. "Orm"
doesn't yield any results either!?
- The engine doesn't handle apostrophe's.
"Yawgmoth's" will generate no results. "Yawgmoth will generate lots of
results and "Yawgmoths" will generate few results.
- Case does not matter. YAWGMOTH and yawgmoth will
yield the same number of results.
- Hyphen's seem to be OK. "Hell-bent" will yield
results.
- Multiple terms seem to be OK. However, not all
terms with multiple card names will yield results.
