Hey dude, great article buddy, especially the bit at the end about the seasonal ban-lists. Makes deck-building more intense I guess. Ever thought of having some kind of MDV-wide scoreboard? We play each other whenever we can, then rack up points for wins and the like. Its like a league. End of the month, one of our artists makes a banner of sorts for the top scorer. Think about it.

My friends and I have been arguing about a banned/restricted list for our play group for quite a while and I found this an interesting starting point for instituting one. That being said I do have a deck that runs 4 Metalworkers, but I only play one Tinker in any given deck. Nice article though.

I have had (in concept) for a while now an MDV Magic Arena. I never got the needed final support, and my life bottomed out at the same time, so it went to the way side for a bit But it was being developed and was looking good.

I don't think we ever had stuff like that, we never tried doing any "format" it was casual with unwritten rules that we all knew, or mostly outlined with common sense, maybe casual people should be more organized!

lastly, sk has a skull clamp, should I burn it? It looks kinda cool though...

Hey - great article.

I agree with everything, except that I personally don't like Restricted cards, so I play Legacy. But I'm usually in the minority. There's always someone that wants to throw 1 copy of Demonic Tutor into their deck.

Also, I try to formalize the Sportsmanship part slightly by making a rule that if your deck theoretically can get the kill in 3 turns or less, then it's not allowed. But I agree that even turn 4 or 5 can be a bit boring. Still, aggro decks are going for the fast kill so it can hamstring them a bit if you come down too hard. You've got to keep the pressure on control and combo players to have answers to fast decks.

In case it was lost in the reading, this was part one of a trilogy. I had alot of fun concentrating on Casual play for a change, as if you hadn't noticed, I have been writing more competetive articles as of late.

This series heads back to the roots of MDV and focuses on Casual and my take on it. Just wait for part three
