Deck of the Day/Combo of the Day: General Discussion.

This thread is reserved for discussing the deck of the day feature on Magic Deck Vortex. Each weekday, a deck from the database is featured.

Discuss the decks, the pattern of decks or even my blurb about each deck in this thread.

Please do not post new decks in this thread. If you want to put together a deck that's better or using different cards, you can post it in one of the deck forums.

You can however discuss some of the card choices in the deck. Please be sure to reference which deck you are commenting on.

Can I ask; you do purely pick at random or do you use Wizards own method of having some kind of link? Just interested in the method to the madness

I usually set up the five decks the week before. Sometimes I purely choose them randomly -- sometimes I make each deck for the week spell out a word with the first character, sometimes I choose all Land Destruction decks, or all decks of one colors. I try to vary it up.

I'm not sure if you realized it already, but the COP Aggro deck is a parody deck. The TEAM ZEPHYR guys make fun of the tournament deck primers by analyzing and breaking down a shoddy deck.

I did -- and I was amused which is why I added the deck to the database.

Perhaps I should label them as PARODY DECKS.

Actually, that would be pretty awesome. Add Thunder Bluff, 300 Card Zoo and the like.

ok, i got registered just to call someone's attention to the fact that today's combo of the day (mindleech mass, capsize) doesn't work. if you bounce the mass, his ability never triggers. any place i should post this other than here?

(You bounce the permanent that you want to take with the Mass)

What Dazboot said. You want to bounce something good your opponent has in play back to their hand -- that way when the Mass deals damage to your opponent you have a good card to take and put into play on your side.

Today's combo, Preacher + Diamond Valley, is one of the very first combos I ever heard about in Magic. I even remember trying to get the cards to try it out, as Preacher was still in print, and Diamond Valley could be found with some difficulty, although it had a $75 price tag slapped on it.
