Some thoughts on the article, made as I go along:
1) Worldly Tutor is cheaper maybe because of its colour. Green is known for creatures (undercosted and overpowered to b precise) so a green tutor that grabs something available in great abundance is kinda meh. True, the same can be said of blue and its own tutor, but lets face it, instants are and sorceries are very important in terms of responsiveness. Let me TRY to elaborate. Important creatures are usually played in 4's. So are important instants/sorceries. BUT, what about important cards that are NOT played in 4's? Cards like Traumatize, which are played at specific time points in the game, and are otherwise stashed away somewhere in the library. Cards like that are even pushed away from the top of the stash until the time is right with cards like Telling TIme, so Mystical Tutor is valuable in this regard. You get to cast you fat spell when YOU want it, otherwise saving precious hand slots for control. But what about fat creatures? Well, in that case tutor away!!! The green tutor is cheaper, but not crap, compared to the other 2. As for the white version, well artifacts and enchantments are usually quite conditional, just like the blue example I gave, so you'd want it out at the precise moment when you are ready, no when you deck wants you to. 2) On the helm, yes if it were reprinted, it would definately be upped to a rare, but maybe not now, with D-Storm still lurking around. Any mechanic that relies on multiple spells being cast in a single turn leans heavily on cards like this. No doubt its a must-have-playset, and it stacks well with Enlightened Tutor to push out fat guys like Triskelion for a fraction of the cost. Makes Cloud Key look weak 3) Mind Stone is being used in standard to augment card drawing in addition to its acceleration. No doubt signets are better, but for the want of something better (and legal) to play, we have no choice. 4) Dream Salvage is another nice card that discard decks will love as it allows us to play mono-black (largely the preferred format) while not slacking in card advantage. Ever since Phyrexian Arena rotated out, black players have been floundering for a good draw engine, and have started to play blue to augment that area. Salvage fixes this a good deal, and because its an uncommon, makes it quite affordable. 5) Lastly, most people have dreams of vising exotic locales like Taj Mahal, Great Wall of China, Ayers Rock and the like. After reading this article, I just want to visit Streetz house. ![]() Cheers |

Thank you for the comments ShaK and Oblivion.
And thank you for elaborating, Oblivion. You are right and perhaps I should consult with you for the next article for some of those nitty gritty details. (I still don't like Mind Stone...)Oh, and my house is definately not an exotic locale. I don't even have any fake palm trees.

I don't read many articles on this site, but being a trader/collector rather than a player - the name of the article peaked my interests. That said, I learned some things and I'll most certainly be looking through my collection for some of the mentioned cards in this article as I'm fairly certain that I own a fair share of them.

Show-off!!!
*sulks in a corner* I want my Rancors back!!!!! @ Streetz: Well if you find my points useful, then by all means, go ahead. I'll help where I can. Oh, and owning 100,000+ cards is exotic enough for me (I have simple needs)! |

Very nice, I did not know that Dark Ritual went 1.00 a card or that stupor was so expensive.

Dude, are those star cards.. price wise or play wise? I seem to think you are missing Hammer of Bogardan, Capsize, etc. Wow, I remember Capsize being the most sought after uncommon like... EVER! Maybe less than Fact or Fiction, but still!!!
Do you have all of the Prosp Bloom parts? Those are some fond memories that you are kindling with the article Streetz. Good read.

Oblivion -- Perhaps I send you part two of this series for review before it is published next week so you can chime in on any intricate details I missed.
Thank you, Zaknifa -- I always like to read about someone getting something out of my article. 12q34e - We should start a new clan of the 100,000 and up club. Scratch that, I like the Forum Wizards too much. ![]() Tynion -- Capsize is only worth $0.29, Hammer of Bogardan is a rare. Cadaverous Bloom was also a rare. And thus rares aren't in my scope for this series. I have all of the parts for ProsBloom and actually have the deck built. Thanks for the comments, Chris.grim - Thank you. Check back this time next week so you can continue to be informed about highly priced commons and uncommons. I hate to hear about people getting ripped off. When in doubt, pick up a Scrye and use it to do all of your trades. That's how I use to do it. Ahhh.. memories of an old magic player.

Re: Words from the Streetz: Uncommon and Common Magical Treasures. - by Streetz
yeah i used to pick up an imported Scrye or Inquest gamer but mostly for articles but i also checked the pricelists, problem is those aren't that acurate for the magic stores here, but maybe i should start picking them up after a new block is out just to see what my cards are worth
, thank god i had a lot of fair people at that release did some great trades, traded my thougseize away for 2 dragons and another card i could use (finaly got rid of that thing while it was still worth something )

Re: Words from the Streetz: Uncommon and Common Magical Treasures. - by Streetz
scry prices are an absolute joke. Many stores have been known to straight out lie when reporting scry prices so that the prices are driven up. Scry should almost never be used to broker trades. does anyone have a store that follows scry prices?

Re: Words from the Streetz: Uncommon and Common Magical Treasures. - by Streetz
Theres a store around me that uses Scrye prices but I dont go there unless they have a huge sale. Also, Wordly Tutor is cheaper than Enlightened and Mystical because it cant fetch an Oath of Druids, Stasis, Moxen, Force of Will, Yawgmoth's Will, or Tendrils of Agony.
