POST A COMBO THREAD: ALARA REBORN When posting in this forum, please be mindful of others, tag your cards and explain your combos. Beware bombos and try not to be redundant or duplicate combos already posted within this thread. This thread is for Alara Reborn combos only. If your combo(s) doesn't include an Alara Reborn card, don't post it here. Thanks. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On with it! Aven Mimeomancer + Prodigal Sorcerer/Rod of Ruin/Honden of Infinite Rage/etc. - You could use the Mimeomancer to turn your 1/1 Saproling tokens into raging 3/1 flying beaters, but it's much more fun to turn your opponent's creatures into 3/1s - and them ping them. ![]() Bituminous Blast + Vampiric Tutor/Sylvan Tutor/Flamekin Harbinger/Sterling Grove/Liliana Vess/etc. - Use any of the Sixth Edition tutors, any of the Lorwyn Harbingers, or even Sensei's Divinning Top if nothing else is at your disposal to put the card you want on the top of your library. Then, just play a card with Cascade and voilá, it's free christmas! ![]() Defiler of Souls + Scuttlemutt - If your opponent is playing with a multicolored deck just like you, you won't get the whole fun you paid for out of Defiler of Souls. That's where Scuttlemutt comes in! With a colorless body of its own (so it doesn't get eaten by the Defiler itself, colorless != monocolored), it can turn creatures into whatever color(s) you want to, except pink. But just make your opponent's most threatening creature monocolored, and your opponent will be forced to sacrifice it during his or her upkeep. ![]() Blitz Hellion + Ooze Garden - Holy crap, a semi-decent use for Ooze Garden!! For only seven mana ( ![]() ![]() from the Hellion, ![]() to activate the Garden), you get a 7/7 creature permanently instead of just until the end of turn! It's like an Enormous Baloth with haste and vigilance the first turn it's in play! Okaaay, let's just move along now...Knight of New Alara + Scuttlemutt - The same concept as above, except now you'll want to target your creatures, and give them all five colors for the maximum boost. Spellbound Dragon + Draco - BRGMFLBGAAAAAAA!!! No, that IS the actual explanation of this card pairing. ![]() Maelstrom Pulse + _________ - Change thecardwithnoname's name to match the lands your opponent has the most of in play, and blast it with the Pulse. This because the Pulse can't target a land permanent, but doesn't care if the remaining permanents with the same name are lands or not. But then again, un-combo and all that... ![]() Time Sieve + Shirei, Shizo's Caretaker + any five copies of the following: Ornithopter, Phyrexian Walker, Steel Wall, alas, any artifact creature with power 1 or less - Idea stolen from DBA, but I made it better. Get Shirei in play and have five artifact creatures with power 1 or less. Sacrifice them all to Time Sieve, get them all back at end of turn, get an additional turn, and repeat it all over again. ![]() It's your turn now! Go multicolored-combos-only go go!

No, Take Eight; I Draw A Card: Marisi's Twinclaws + Inside Out - These cats have the biggest butts in the doublestrike crowd, and not even Sir Mix-a-Lot like'em as much as I do.
I'm not sure if this is a combo or just synergy, and I pray to Garfield that this isn't a bombo. (I don't know what a bombo is, but according to Wikipedia, it's an Argentinian drum: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bombo_legüero.) More Feathers Than In A John Denver Song: Aven Mimeomancer + Kangee, Aerie Keeper + bird deck - I've aways wanted to play Kangee, and now have a reason. Put another feather counter on him with the Mimeomancer, boosting his power (making him a 3/1), and boosting the power of all other birds you control (which also makes the Mimeomancer harder to kill and a pretty good attacker). Go crazy and add red for Airdrop Condor and Goblin Assault. Put a feather counter on a potential blocker, kill it and hit 'em hard with the Kangee-boosted condor. You could always toss a feather on a goblin in desperate times also. Non Green/White Enchantment Hate: Thought Hemorrhage + Grixis Charm/Crosis's Charm - Why just look at someone's hand when you Hemorrhage them? Bounce that permanent in your opponent's end step. Your opponent would have wasted the mana he spent to cast the spell in the first place, and you'll be pleasantly surprised if your opponent was also holding a copy of the spell you bounced. On it's own, one of the charms probably has more flexibility than any effect you would use to look at your opponent's hand, and the combo screams Bolas! These aren't multicolored-combos-only: The Old One, Two, Three, Four Punch: Unscythe, Killer of Kings + Quietus Spike + Ronin Cliffrider - Cliffrider attacks, does one damage to all the defending player's creatures, kills them all, (you get zombies), is most likely unblocked, deals 5 damage to defending player, defending player looses half his life. Feel free to work in Varhild's War-Riders, or Hunted Phantasm (which also loves the Spike!) Take That, Dancing Scimitar!: Spellbound Dragon + Dark Withering - There is nothing worse than something blocking your 9 power flyer. With this combo, you get to destroy that non-black blocker without spending a card. It's Just A Phase: Blitz Hellion + Teferi's Veil - When the hellion attacks, it phases at end of combat. It isn't around at end of turn, so it phases back in your next turn ready to attack. Move over Fog Elemental! Duh, It's A Zombie: Lightning Reaver + Zombie Master - I know you can plug in any zombie with the Master, but in this case, it works particularly well because: 1. The Reaver is a multiplayer card, if everyone else is playing black, you would be heckled mercilessly if your Reaver just had fear. With the Master, you can silence them. 2. If they aren't playing black, you don't need to worry about making their lands swamps because the Reaver has fear. (Though watch out for those Dancing Scimitars! 3. Reavers, unlike most zombies, don't like going to the graveyard from play, because they'll loose all their precious counters. The Master's ability will allow them to survive direct damage and destroy effects. 4. Though all the zombie "lords" are great, the Reaver really doesn't need things like +1/+1 counters or deathtouch as much.

Re: [ALARA REBORN COMBO THREAD] Post your combos here.
Filigree Angel + Master Transmuter - Not a combo, but evil nonetheless. Start by getting the transmuter in play, and use it to put your Filigree Angel into play and gain a butload of life. Next turn, use the angel itself as the artifact you bounce to your hand with the Transmuter, and have it come back to play yet again, giving you a butload of life yet again. And repeat yet again next turn, and the turn after that one, etc. (It works because no targetting is involved anywhere in Master Transmuter's ability. In fact, the game rules would hate the card if targetting was involved somehow.)
Lich Lord of Unx + Voidmage Prodigy - A Wizard token producer? That feels quite useful to me! Particularly with Voidmage Prodigy, which happens to be blue as well! ![]() EDIT: CoglineErro and Drathro in the rumour mill also suggest Patron Wizard, Azami, Lady of Scrolls, Supreme Inquisitor and Aphetto Grifter, and I don't disagree. ![]() Lord of Extinction + Glimpse the Unthinkable/Nemesis of Reason/Plague Boiler - Whichever is the name of that INSANITY, pair it with milling cards, dredge cards, board-sweepers, whatever fills graveyards faster than christmas turkey, and watch that MONSTROSITY ravage the game! It would be hella funny if it wasn't so LUDICROUS! But that does make it funny anyway, so I'm kinda confused here... ![]() Sen Triplets + Joiner Adept/Prismatic Omen - Not only does Joiner Adept/Prismatic Omen facilitate you in getting Sen Triplets into play in the first place, but they also provide you with whatever colors you may need to play whatever's in your opponent's hand. Hmmm, I smell a deck alread—Wait no, that's the smoldering stench of destruction of the previous combo...

Re: [ALARA REBORN COMBO THREAD] Post your combos here.
My original combo for Time Sieve (that YWN so quaintly stole
) was this:Time Sieve+ Protean Hulk+ Shirei, Shizo's Caretaker With both in play, find a way to get Hulk into the yard (Something like Blasting Station or cheating Hulk in with a Footsteps of the Goryo work fine, but really it's whatever you want that can do the deed). Use Hulk's ability to get five Ornithopter/Phyrexian Walker/Shield Sphere or four and a one cost artifact guy and Shirei, Shizo's Caretaker for instant infinity! Also, I have no idea how it is that YWN claims to have made that combo "better" .Here's another silly one for y'all: Lord of Extinction + Tunnel Vision + Reito Lantern Easy to see the combo here, and many ways to abuse it. The basic idea is simply to play Tunnel Vision with Lord of Extinction out and search for some random one-of in your deck, putting any other cards you find into your grave. Of course, luck can't always be friendly and keep that one-of near the bottom of your deck; that's where the lantern comes in. So long as you have another tunnel vision to play, the lantern can put your one-of on the bottom, ready to be searched out again. Heck, the Lord doesn't even have to be in play; If you use fun goodies like Dread Return or others with support like Brawn and Dragon Breath your deck's all set !

Re: [ALARA REBORN COMBO THREAD] Post your combos here.
It isn't "better" per se, no. It's that you associate the Protein Hulk as being part of the combo, when it has no bearing in the combo itself. It is merely a tool to fetch the actual combo pieces. I simplified that part.
![]() I creditted you damnit, what more do you want?...

Re: [ALARA REBORN COMBO THREAD] Post your combos here.
Well for starters a deluxe vanilla bean frappuccino served with a smile would be nice. But while I'm waiting on that, here's s'more combos:
Nacatl War-Pride + Finest Hour OK technically synergy, but really good synergy. Have the War-Pride attack alone, and stack the abilities so that Finest Hour activates first, and you now have a pack of 4/4 cat warriors crashing into your opponent's horde (Nacatl's tokens are copies of itself, so thanks to Exalted they all get a boost). If your original War-Pride is still alive you can do this every turn and attack with whatever's left over, hopefully wiping out your opponent's board each turn. Mirrorweave + Maelstrom Purge FOR THE LAWLZ!

Time Sieve + Mycosynth Lattice + One Dozen Eyes + Panoptic Mirror = Infinite turns. With the lattice and the mirror in play, imprint one dozen eyes on it, netting you 5 artifact creatures every turn to sack to time sieve.

Cool otherwise though (I wanted to build a War-Pride/exalted deck as soon as it was unveiled).

Ardent Plea + Vedalken Mastermind - Play the Plea, get a free card from your library, bounce it back to your hand, repeat.

Re: [ALARA REBORN COMBO THREAD] Post your combos here.
I'm surprised no one's posted this yet:
Uril, the Miststalker + Three Dreams It's kinda like assembling a hairy Voltron. Just get some Auras and slap em' on Uril to watch him pummel the opponent into small dusty particles. My suggestion is to follow the advice of Three Dreams's flavor text: get one to heal (Pariah), one to harm (Daybreak Coronet), and one to grant you prudence (Flickerform). Which leads into the next combo... Uril, the Miststalker + Flickerform It would be really upsetting to finally get a huge Uril with plenty of Aura bling out just to watch him die to a Wrath effect or some run-around removal spell like Cruel Edict. Fortunately in your list of possible auras that Uril can sport is Flickerform, a nasty one indeed. Now whenever your opponent finally does find a way to get rid of Uril, poof! He jumps over to some other realm of existence for a quick fruity umberella drink, then gets right back in the fray at turn's end. As long as you have the mana open, he'll basically be indestructible!

Take That, Spock!: Nemesis of Reason + Mirrorweave - Have a few random creatures hanging around, Mirrorweave your Nemesis. Cast an Oona's Grace and your opponent will be dead before his next turn.

Re: [ALARA REBORN COMBO THREAD] Post your combos here.
Well, why don't we count both?
Lich Lord of Unx + Coat of Arms Alright it's not very original, but it is something that you don't see too often in Black and Blue. Suddenly those little tokens you kept making each turn are a much bigger threat than they seemed, especially given that Lich Lord can use his other ability as a kind of finishing blow during alpha strike mode.

Re: [ALARA REBORN COMBO THREAD] Post your combos here.
Bant Sureblade/Esper Stormblade/Grixis Grimblade/Jund Hackblade/Naya Hushblade + Shadowmoor's god auras - Original idea by GG Crono in the Rumour Mill, just enchant any of the Somethingblades with an appropriate god aura from the Shadowmoor block, thus satisfying the 'control a multicolored permanent'-requisite for their inherent abilities, as well as getting a fine boost from the auras themselves. Throw Uril, the Miststalker in the middle and you got yourself a deck.
Be warned though that Naya Hushblade grants itself shroud, so after the first aura it'll get tricky to put anymore on it. The same applies to Clout of the Dominus.Dauntless Escort + Wrath of God - Simple, right? Sacrifice the Escort, all your creatures become indestructible, thus imune to Wrath of God's... well, wrath. Simple. ![]() Glassdust Hulk + Myr Incubator - If you're playing with an Esper deck, odds are your deck will be full of artifacts. So when you break Myr Incubator, you'll get a huge amount of 1/1 Myr artifact tokens. Which will make Glassdust Hulk huge - and unblockable. All you have to do next is swing for the win. ![]() Necromancer's Covenant + Nemesis of Reason/Traumatize - Another simple one. Fill your opponent's graveyard, and then turn it into a deathbringing lifelinking army with the Covenant. Simple. ![]() Mayael's Aria + Hatred - All you need is a mere 1/1 and 20 life. Play Hatred during your upkeep, paying 19 life and making the token a 20/1, and you win the game. Not that you couldn't win with Hatred alone and an unblocked critter anyway... *coff* ![]() Marisi's Twinclaws + Colossal Might - Not a combo, but it's simple nonetheless, and we like simple. This one deals 12 damage for ![]() . Simple. ![]() Crystallization + Simic Guildmage - Remember him? I think you should, as this guy gets a new aura to toy around with almost every block... This time it's Crystallization. Put it in a creature of your opponent (naturelly), and when something targets that creature (Prodigal Sorcerer, Eight-and-a-Half-Tails, c'mon it's not hard), move the aura to a different creature in response to the remove-from-game ability. Et voilá! ![]() Sacellum Godspeaker + Thornbite Staff + Phyrexian Dreadnought x2 + Paleoloth + Where Ancients Tread + Mycoid Shepherd - Indeed, simple combos are the best combos. With all the above in play (with Thornbite Staff attached to Sacellum Godspeaker), except for the Dreadnoughts which you should have one in your hand and the other in your graveyard, tap the Godspeaker for mana (revealing the Dreadnought in your hand), and play it. But don't sacrifice anything, let it kill itself when it comes into play. Here's when the fun begins - this simple process will let you return the other Dreadnought in your graveyard to your hand thanks to Paleoloth, deal 5 damage to any creature or player thanks to Where Ancients Tread, gain 5 life thanks to Mycoid Shepherd, and untap the Godspeaker thanks to the Thornbite Staff - thus allowing you to repeat the process again and again and again and again. Heck, you can even also get infinite mana from this combo, if when you tap the Godspeaker for mana you reveal more than just a Dreadnought. Simple combos indeed. ![]() EDIT: Karrthus, Tyrant of Jund + Shields of Velis Vel (+ Dramatic Entrance/Elvish Piper to do it at instant speed and without paying Karrthus's huge mana cost) - I BELIEVE YOU HAVE MAH CREATURES, GIMMAH!! EDIT2: "Lords of Forgotten Alara" + Mythic Proportions/Epic Proportions - Auratouched Mage+Academy Researchers decks everywhere just got a little bit better! ![]() EDIT3: Quote:
C'mon guys, come post here as well! Otherwise I'm forced to edit this same post over and over again. Stupid no double-posting rule...

Re: [ALARA REBORN COMBO THREAD] Post your combos here.
YWN, I'll save you. I had a quadruple edit in one post up there also. I like tagging them as edits for the sass factor, and thanks for "stealing" my Karrthus, Tyrant of Jund combo.
![]() Shrek, meet Galahad: Knotvine Paladin + Oathsworn Giant - OK so Shrek is an ogre, and I doubt Galahd was , but when you combine two honor-bound individuals together, someone is going to take a pounding.Edit 1: Argonaught-mare Bolt of Intimidation + Siren's Call - Deal three damage to any creature, and kill all of one opponent's creatures!
