I'm getting very sick of, every time we see a cool creature - or any card - so many people just go "But it dies to (random kill card X). Yes, there are answers to it. But you know what? There are answers to those answers. That's the beauty of the game. Look at a card based on its own merits, don't just think "Terror, next" or "Naturalize, next" or "Cancel, next". Cause if you think that way, then every card sucks. The game sucks. Even those answers you just listed SUCK.

GET OVER IT.

That is all.

Good read!

I know both decks you built curve up to five mana eventually, but I couldn't help but feel that 24 lands might be one or two too many. The White deck had only two cards at five mana, all the rest are three or less, so a couple more threats or answers might be in order. The Black deck loves to play its five-drop, but with some actual card draw in there, you might still be able to cut a land or two for more business spells.

If you revisit these decks, you might consider Eldrazi Monument as the single Mythic Rare in the deck. Vampire Nocturnus is a bit like a Monument in itself, so maybe not so much for the Black deck, but the White deck might appreciate it.

Shame on you with your edit. Did you not read the article? It's better than the title I had before.

Amadeus - great article. It's good to see some decklists and explanations for them to better hammer out your format. I look forward to more in the future!

I did read the article. Merely commenting on how awesome the first title was. I'm not big on deck building articles, but you gave good reasoning behind your picks.

@Streetz: Thanks! I do believe you're my biggest fan. You can look forward to editing more anytime you like.

@CoglineErro: Sorry it's not for you. Thanks for giving it a read though. What kind of articles grab your attention?

@Drathro: Good point re: land count. To be honest, I was playing soldiers for quite awhile on MTGO before Zendikar was released. At that time, I was trying to play Captain of the Watch, and struggling to hit six lands. For that reason, I had the land count up to 24 and never really decreased it. I don't recall it being a problem in white, but I'll at least try dropping one. For vampires, I'm not so sure. This version of the deck is ramping up into Malakir Bloodwitch. A more aggro version of the deck with Bloodghast might make that a fairly reasonable move. Then again, lands are awesome with Bloodghast, so maybe not. (More on that in a future article...) I saw Eldrazi Monument in all of the tournament Vampires decks but didn't take a really close look. After my experience with a singleton Nocturnus and no shuffling effects to change the top of my library, I think that the Monument probably is an excellent choice. I'll have to give that a try (so many things to try!)

Cheers.
